Spring Moving Tips

March 15, 2022

It’s finally spring, and the new year brings new hopes and goals, some resolutions and promises, and perhaps a new place to call home too! Moving can be very exciting but exhausting too. No matter what time of year or season you move, it can be a tedious process any which way.

Be mindful of these spring moving tips, so you can have a worry-free and seamless move — and settle in at your new apartment in no time.

Plan Ahead

Spring is one of the most hectic seasons of the year in the real estate industry. If you plan on moving in the spring, make sure that you plan ahead and book your movers in advance. Prices of moving rates may hit high ceiling marks by mid-May, and the availability of vendors and moving companies may become limited.

Prepare for Unpredictable Weather

Spring weather can be very unpredictable. Weather forecasts can only be reliable for a few days at best; you wake up with sunny and warm weather one morning, and the day may end with you getting soaked in pouring rain. Schedule the arrival of your movers a day or two before your actual move to give them ample time to travel just in case they are delayed by extreme weather changes. If you’re traveling quite a distance — and it will take a few hours — give yourself a whole day for the trip, so you are not extremely rushed and pressured. It is best to have furniture covers on hand to protect your stuff when taking them out or back in. Upon arrival at your new apartment, park your moving truck as close to your unit as possible, so you don’t tire yourself out going back and forth.

Protect Yourself Against Pollen

Spring brings plenty of blooming flowers, but pollen also comes with the pretty blossoms. It can get scattered all over your new place if you are not careful. Make sure to seal all boxes and cover furniture when you take them out, and take off your shoes when going inside.

Purge Before Moving

Give yourself a head start and clean out your rooms and closets before you move into your new apartment. This results in less stuff to pack, and you won’t be bringing in unwanted and unnecessary stuff to your new apartment.

Pause and Take Breaks

Moving can get pretty toxic with so many things that need to be done. You may have a tendency to skip meals in your determination to finish everything on time. However, you will need energy to power through the day and accomplish more. It can get warm during spring, and you may need to hydrate often. Have quick, protein-packed snacks and regular sips of water to keep your energy levels up.

Moving to a new home can be very tiring. In choosing your new place of residence, Skagit County offers extensive options for you — from rentals to owned properties. You would need to coordinate everything properly before you move. Engaging closely with the property management company can make your transfer smoother and worry-free. They can even connect you with reliable movers and other vendors you may need in your move.

Follow these tips closely, settle in at your apartment, socialize and make new friends, and enjoy your new neighborhood.

Evictions are starting to become the norm again as Washington state begins its steady recovery following the pandemic. Previously, landlords were unable to impose any payments on tenants or evict them due to the difficulties of the past year and a half. Now, people are returning to work and settling into normalcy despite the virus. The state government deemed that evictions could return. It has led to a mixed reception from both tenants and landlords. Landlords can begin their business once again after losing over a years’ worth of rent. And while many have recovered financially, others are still struggling. However, the government believes that the economy will be affected significantly if this moratorium goes on any longer.
